 How cool is it to stop by the side of the road and eat blackberries to your heart's content! We're making this funky little page in my home class next week.

Fab titles with sugar beads

In an effort not to end up on the "Hoarders" TV show I've been trying to use up bits and pieces from my stash. Here I made a background from 2 papers and a barcode strip, added some stickers, an old rosette and some arrows. So far so good.

Stashbuster pages are great but they sometimes end up looking a bit slapped together. Which they are!

Especially my title chipboard looked to be from the last century (it is). I glammed it up with some mint crush sugar beads from my2angels.

(The letters were already printed in different shades and patterns of green.)

First I covered the bottom of the letters with Glossy Accents and covered them with sugar beads. The bigger beads tend to come out first and I made sure there were plenty of them. I let that dry and then repeated it with the smaller microbeads that come out last. I let the original colour show through on the top of the letters, giving it all a multi-coloured effect.
2 more coats of Glossy Accents kept everything in place.

The waves below the title are quick to stitch with the Sew Easy tool and the scallop head.

Did you spot the little ship's steering wheel charm? You can sew them on with an embroidery stitch!

So, if you have some unloved stuff on the bottom of your stash, glam it up with some fabulous sugar beads!

Strike a pose

This is my class at Kaisercraft next week, Monday 19/11 at 10am:

I'll show you an easy way to get the quilted look and how to multi-colour emboss chipboard. It's hard to see in the photo, but it really shimmers and shines.

Daddy's girl - a Father's Day layout

What?! Pink on a Father's Day layout? It wasn't planned that way, but pink kept creeping in, so why not? We'll make this page in class next week. 

 And we'll make this little thingy from scratch: 

 There is quite a few techniques in there: rosette making, rough embossing, fake feathers and a glass marble. And some more stitching with the Sew Easy tool:

I finally got my boy layout done for my2angel's boy month:

 I had another play with Crafter's Workshop templates. They look really cool when you go over it with Rangers Distress inks and a blending tool. 

 Even the negative of a chipboard was converted into a mask. I used texture paste and because I was at a crop at Anne's house, it was a different brand of texture paste that turned see-through by the next day. I am intrigued... Will have to find out the brand.

I did the sewing with washi tape, cause I had forgotten to bring some ribbon. It's pretty cool, I think.

 This rosette die has got to be one of the most versatile tools in my stash. It's great for boys and girls and by trimming the cut-out strip skinnier you can make smaller rosettes. This one has a coin charm in the middle with a bit of Glossy Accents.

 Dangle a cowboy hat and a hammer with the help of a mobile phone cord and the explorer has everything he needs!

 Well, maybe throw in a balloon and a film strip, for good measure. These rhinestones are so much cheaper than the sticky ones and they stick a treat with Glossy Accents.

My sister's daughter

I thought I knew all about embossing powders, but then I discovered this! Shabby embossing powders by Stampendous... they are devine and you can find them here at my2angels. 

It's all Renee's fault for letting me play with hers cause suddenly I needed some too.

Basically you can achieve in one step what usually takes about 4. The photos don't do it justice!

The colour I used on the swirl is shabby green. As you can see, it's very soft and pastel with some green glitter. 

Normally I would have:

1. Inked the chipboard and embossed 1 coat, heated that

2. Added another coat, heated that

3. Then sprinkled some glitter over it, heated that 

4. And then throw in some larger chunks of gold Utee and heated that again.

Add some frustrated sounds as the glitter goes viral and covers all the wrong areas, including my hair and all my clothes...

Instead all I did was:

1. Ink the chipboard and emboss a thick coat that is sprinkled with glitter and some metallic flecks. Heat and done. Too easy!

On the title I used shabby pink. 

Again, it's very soft and pretty, just perfect for the dreamy photo of my niece. She has featured in a few layouts lately, mainly because she's gorgeous. I used Prima Songbird Zephyr and chipboard pieces. 

Mr Muscle

Launceston in Tasmania has this awesome gorge, a bit of wilderness in the middle of the city. It appears it needs some help staying together though. Out of nowhere appears....

Almost a Christmas baby

Here's some fun for the WOW blog post today.

A few (not too many) years ago there was an empty little cot under the Christmas tree. I was due on Christmas Day, but thankfully I was 2 weeks late. So I am "almost a Christmas baby".

The photo is really sweet and soft and the beautiful filigree chipboard tree matched perfectly. 

A pretty little chippie like this doesn't need too much embellishing or it'll get overpowered. I simply mounted it on some paper, covered it in white crackle paint and added a few highlights with Perfect Pearls: 

The star got the glamour treatment with red glitter all over it. A charm sits on top: 

The "Funky Christmas" title suits that 70ies feel just fine (yes, I am thatold): 

I painted it white, inked the edges and outlined it roughly with a pen:

 And finished it off with some bootie charms: 

I have loved Christmas ever since!

More Christmas cards

I know, it's not even Christmas time yet, but what would you do if you got some of that cute Christmas chipboard from WOW?! Have a looksie what I did:

The boots's been painted white and then in blue. I smudged it a bit cause I am impatient. The solution: Keep smudging till it looks intentional...

I think these little mini Christmas trees are just the best. They come in a row of 6.

I painted them white first and then added some green Smooch and pink straight from the reinker bottle:
