U & I canvas

As requested, we'll be making a canvas in my home class next week. This makes a great Christmas gift, too.

It looks a bit like a shadow box when you look at it from the side:

If you prefer it busy, there is lots of space left for more embellishments.

You can find the camera charm here and the car charm (above the word "happiness") here at my2angels. Tracy is the one who shared the fantastic canvas idea with me. Check out her blog here for many more great ideas.

So if you would like to make a canvas with me next week (Tue, Thu night, Fri) please feel free to contact me.

Merry Christmas to all

The "Just Believe" collection from Kaisercraft is my favourite this Christmas. I just love the soft blue and rich red.  Find the range here at my2angels with the Christmas papers.
I made this layout with it:

The new mini gardenias make a pretty garland. There are gardenias in olivebrown (more cream than brown) and red, plus some black star flowers (sprayed with gold glimmer mist):

On the ends of the garland are a bell charm and a

And just a tiny bit of stitching with the Sew Easy tool and the star head.

PS: I scraplifted myself to make a non-Christmas version. We'll make this in class at Kaisercraft on Monday, Dec 3:

Christmas cards sneak peek

Next weekend (Dec 1 and 2) I am doing my annual Christmas card day. Actually, I had to spread it out over 2 days since so many of my friends wanted to come along. Thanks! If you are booked in and you haven't seen the cards in real life yet, here are some sneak peeks:

Tumbling elf card:
Super cute, interactive card. The elf actually spins and tumbled across town.

Deer card:
A 3D card that can be mailed flat. It reminds me of an old fashioned theatre.

Spinning heart card:

Fun and simple card with a wow factor. The heart spins when you open the card.

Christmas tree card:

A black and cream card with very cool folding. This will keep all your friends guessing how you did it!

Sparkly tree card:

All in white and light green, this card really shines.

Street lantern card:

Something for those who like an old fashioned Christmas.

I'm sure we will all have a great day making these.

My cheer star

Hannah has been doing cheerleading all year and has learned amazing flips and things that make my heart stop. Here is what we're doing in my home class next week:

It's got a shaker box star:

They are easy to make and a lot of fun to fiddle with.

I used the same principle on my friend's birthday card:

This page has lots of different stars and can suit boys too.

Bottle cap magnets - teacher's gift idea

Are you looking for something personal and fun to make for your kids' teachers or your friends? Should it should be cheap and quick to make, but not look cheap? I've got a great idea for you to copy:
Bottle cap magnets!

Here is what you'll need (click on the words to find the products at my2angels):

3. Some paper with small designs (use up some bits from your stash)
4. An unsused bottle cap (from the home bewery section at Woolies)
5. A magnet (from the cheap shop)

Cover the cabochon with Dimensional Magic, place it on the design you want and swirl it around a little to spread the glue and pop any airbubbles.

Let it dry for about half an hour.

Now on to squishing some bottle caps!
If you have a Cuttlebug or similar machine, you're in luck. Make the following sandwich:

B plate
metal die (metal side facing bottle top)
bottle cap (pointy bits up)
A plate

It will be squished to perfection.
If you don't have a Cuttlebug and can't rush out to get one this very minute, don't despair. Lay your bottle cap with the pointy bits down on a wooden cutting board and give it a few gentle taps with a hammer. It's not as perfect, but looks ok too.

Check your glued-on cabochon. Is it completely dry? Then cut it out. It doesn't have to be perfect, just follow the outline of the glass pebble.

Put some strong glue (I use Helmar 450) on the inside plastic rim of the bottle cap

Glue the cabochon on.

Glue a magnet on the back of the bottle cap.
Easy, right? For a present I made 6 matching ones.

Now you need some presentation.
Cut out a tag from Snowflake paper (there are 9 on the sheet, so that will go a long way).

Glue 6 small metal washers on the backside of the paper (raid the shed!) They will hold your magnets in place.

Pop the magnets on the front, add some red baker's twine and a Christmas tree charm. Wrap it in a bit of cellophane and you are done!
Try and match the paper you use to your teacher's taste. My daughter's male teacher is getting monsters!

Hip chicks

This is my home class next week. I rarely do double layouts, but this one was a request and I thought why not.

I have super cute photos of the girls playing fashion parade. Making them 3x4" (half the normal size) means I can fit more on a page and it won't look crowded.
The feathers are shimmery in real life, green and bright pink, but that's hard to capture. Just take my word for it.

I love this diamond mesh, it adds a bit of glitz, but not too much.

And here's a little peacock, just for the fun of it:

Strike a pose

This is my class at Kaisercraft next week, Monday 19/11 at 10am:

I'll show you an easy way to get the quilted look and how to multi-colour emboss chipboard. It's hard to see in the photo, but it really shimmers and shines.

Would you like to come along? It's only $15 plus materials and it's all there. You can change the look by using other papers and chipboard, if you like.

Domo Hat

If you have photos of boys and men and are struggling to scrap them, here is the class for you and there's not a flower in sight!

It features a groovy overlay and lots of stuff happening above and below.

Join me on Monday, Nov 12, at Kaisercraft Robina!

Bay of Fires

The Bay of Fires in Tasmania is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, perfect in ever way, except maybe for the wind. If you come to my home class next week you'll get to create this page:

We'll use paddle pop sticks, a cool paper clip...
 a die...
 Mr & Mrs Gingy...
and the good old Sew Easy tool (I can't stay away)
