Sisters

Even though there is a 3 year gap between my girls, most days they play together really well. I have 2 sisters myself and I'm so happy my girls get to experience the joy of having a sister around.
I saw this gorgeous frame in a mag's layout and wanted to try something similar. Sorry if I'm not giving the glory, I simply don't know where I saw it.

Got lots of photos? Cut them into hearts:

Cork boards as Christmas pressies

Wendy from WOW had put up some awesome cork boards she made for her kids' teachers here and I wanted to do something like it for my teachers too. It'd be a good last minute Christmas present too, if you're looking for ideas.

I couldn't find the right sized cork board, so I made my own. At a cheap shop I bought 3 document frames, about A4 ($2.50 each) and 6 sheets of cork ($2.50 for 2). I took off the glass, glued 2 cork sheets on the backing cardstock and glued on all papers and decorations with Helmar glue. I used the vintage school paper from Graphics45, available at My2Angels. The vintage look goes so great with the cork.

The papers I used are:

Here are some details:
(I love this stuff!!!):

a handmade flower with a skeleton leaf:

some orchids:

another handmade flower:

sweet little apple charm:

and yet another handmade flower (I was on a roll)
with leaves and a felt heart:

So, if you are still looking for some Christmas pressies to make, try some cork boards!

our card day

We had a lot of fun on Saturday, making Christmas cards all day. Literally, all day. Thanks girls for making it a great time! Here are some photos of the cards we made:

Be merry

I saw this awesome sketch on the October Afternoon blog. I love using sketches when I'm stuck for ideas and I needed something for my class next week.

It's got a pretty poinsettia (make yours red if you prefer):

and some super cute stockings:

If you wanna do some Christmas scrapping, come along! There are only a few classes left before next year.

Almost a Christmas baby

Here's some fun for the WOW blog post today.
A few (not too many) years ago there was an empty little cot under the Christmas tree. I was due on Christmas Day, but thankfully I was 2 weeks late. So I am "almost a Christmas baby".

The photo is really sweet and soft and the beautiful filigree chipboard tree matched perfectly.

A pretty little chippie like this doesn't need too much embellishing or it'll get overpowered. I simply mounted it on some paper, covered it in white crackle paint and added a few highlights with Perfect Pearls:

The star got the glamour treatment with red glitter all over it. A charm sits on top:

The "Funky Christmas" title suits that 70ies feel just fine (yes, I am thatold):

I painted it white, inked the edges and outlined it roughly with a pen:

And finished it off with some bootie charms:

I have loved Christmas ever since!

More Christmas cards

I know, it's not even Christmas time yet, but what would you do if you got some of that cute Christmas chipboard from WOW?! Have a looksie what I did:

The boots's been painted white and then in blue. I smudged it a bit cause I am impatient. The solution: Keep smudging till it looks intentional...

I think these little mini Christmas trees are just the best. They come in a row of 6.

I painted them white first and then added some green Smooch and pink straight from the reinker bottle:

The same with these ones:

Well, that's enough Christmas stuff for now.

What?! Christmas cards already!

Yes, already. I made up 2 quick cards for Tracey from My2Angels

You don’t always have to use Christmas papers for Christmas cards when you have gorgeous embellishments! I used some scraps in Christmas colours and the new chain embellishment with a felt heart (just stapled on):

and a bit of twine and a little sleigh charm. Done!

Here is the other one:

Red glitter ribbon, a Christmas bauble

some star flowers and a snowman charm is all it takes to make this look Christmassy!

On the 10th of December I am running an all-day Christmas card class and as of today there are 4 spots left. We'll be making 6 cards, please let me know if you are interested. Cost is $40, incl all materials and lunch.

Cheers, Geli

Having a blast

Another layout I did with the wonderfully bright and funky Echo Park "Happy Days" papers and embellies from my2angels:

Yes, Halloween photos again, but hey, it's the season! To be fair, the photos are from 2005 and those were the days when a sheet over the head was still classified as a "scary costume".
Did you notice I scraplifted my "Rugged Up" layout? Here are the papers I used and you can follow the links to find them at My2Angels, if you want:
How could I resist adding the frog pin? He is just way too cute. There's a little felt heart, baker's twine and bling chain too:

And of course another lil' charm:

Thanks for looking!
