Tie dyeing on paper

The latest Scrapbooking Memories mag featured a pretty cool technique of the month - tie dyeing your paper. It worked pretty well too and next week we're giving it a go in class! It's perfect for boy pages (we all know how hard it can be to scrap teenage boys and men). You can pick your own colours of course.

We are using the awesome Cap It embellishment from my2angels and you can find all the available colours (incl girl versions) here.

Why not include a hidden booklet and up to 8 more photos? Or space for journalling? Or both? Anything that isn't really scrap-worthy but part of the story can go in there. Think boarding passes, ticket stubs, red-eyed photos etc.

Mine features all the photos of food Joel took on his trip to Rwanda.

Are you ready to give this a go? All will be included in this class for $25 and you will only need one main photo and up to 8 photos for the booklet, an apron and a smile.

Lots and lots of Flutterbies

Based on last month's post, How to scrap those pesky un-matching photos, I created a similar layout to use in my scrapbook class:

This time I used the Brilliant Blue Flutterbies, but look at all the colours you can get!
Find them all in the Flutterby section here

In my class at Scrapulous everyone gets to bring their own papers and choose their own colour scheme and I thought I'd let you take a peek of how wonderfully different everyone's turned out! Some of these photos were taken at night, so please excuse the bad lighting.

Here are a few using the Perfectly Pink Flutterbies:

It's always amazing, how different they all look, simply based on different colours and photos!
Feast your eyes on some Classic Tones Flutterbies. You can never go wrong with black and white, it simply matches everything:

Here, some of the white flowers were sprayed yellow:

The Seeing Green Flutterbies are bright and cheerful, you can't help but love them and the wonderful layout they were used on:

Turquoise is my favourite colour and how happy do the Totally Turquoise Flutterbies look on this layout:

They even brighten up an otherwise soft and subdued colour scheme:

As the name suggests, the Brilliant Blue Flutterbies are, well, brilliant:

And if bright colours aren't your thing, how about the beautiful soft colours of the Autumn Tones Flutterbies. Just like the black and white set, this one goes with a lot of different colour mixes:

This last layout is a little special because it not only uses some of the elements of the Perfectly Pink Flutterbies, but also a few extras:

and a few other my2angels embellishments
(find similar ones here under Wings and Things):

I hope you feel inspired from seeing so many ways to use the beautiful Flutterby sets. Head over to my2angels and find your favourite set here!

Love, Geli

Happy (opening presents)

You have asked for a layout with more than 1 photo and a background that has some designs on it (since I often ask for plain backgrounds) and here it is!

It was based on this sketch by My Sraps and More Sketches:

Mind you, the photos are quite small, but photos can often be trimmed right down to the essentials and still tell the story.

The gold heart could be replaced with something plainer if you want to make this a boy's layout.

As always, this class will give you the chance to use those basic supplies you already own and this one is super easy!
All you will need is:

- 3 photos (two to be trimmed to 2 x2 1/2" and one to 3x3")
- a background and 3 patterned papers (2 plain, 1 busy)
- ribbon for a bow
- foam tape / squares
- ink pad for the edges
- all golden bits will be supplied in class

If you're keen to get scrapping and make a teeny tiny dent in your craft stash, I'm happy to see you in class!

If you like to learn how to use the Cricut machine, this is the perfect class for you! We'll be cutting a lot of our embellishments.

Soft shiny wings spread out behind the photos:

There is even a handy pocket, if you want to tuck in a few more photos or memorabilia.

Meet Gracie

Here is a fun project to do with 6x6" papers!
Yes, there are a lot of rolls, but they're so easy to make.
Add a few gold highlights and you can make this as fancy as you like.
We will emboss and foil and make glitter dots.
A little tag pops out, it's just big enough to record a few details, and I will show you how to stop it from coming out all the way.
Even the photos get a metallic border with tape.

If you'd like to create something like this in the colours that suit your photos, why not give it a go? Use up what you already own, create something pretty and enjoy the company of friendly fellow scrappers! Newcomers get their first class free!

All you need is 3 photos (3x4"), a very plain background, 5 sheets from a 6x6" paper pad, letter stickers and a few pearls.

We will do this in class at Scrapulous (60 Bryants Rd, Shailer Park QLD) on these dates:
Tuesday (June 16) at 10am,
Thursday (June 18) at 6pm and
Friday (June 19) at 9:30am
Cost is $20

Cirque du Soleil

Would you like to make a lovely background from just a white cardstock using texture paste, a mask and glimmer mists?

It's easier than it looks!

Now on to decorating! A canvas bucket overflows with flowers:

And we will make this feather rosette:

A bit of stamping and a sprinkling of sequins:

If you like what you see, grab a few simple materials and join me for class next week!
You will need a 5x7" photo, a white cardstock, some paper flowers, a resin flower / button / brad for the centre of the feather rosette and a few cardstock scraps to die cut.
Sounds simple enough?
