You said you were a bushranger

Bring out the inner cowboy!
I used the October sketch challenge from Handmade by Suzanne for this page. There is a funny story behind the title:

My husband and I met in Europe and I had no idea what a bushranger was. We had a little misunderstanding with his job description...
The journalling says,
"You said you were a bushranger, an Australian cowboy. That's what you said. Is it any surprise that I expected you to look like Crocodile Dundee? You could have mentioned that you worked as an actor in a bushranger SHOW."

Here's a cowboy star made from metallic cardstock, using an embossing folder:

a lasso:

and a must-have: a horse

I really like that Bingo embossing folder. Thanks for the loan, Sandy!

Some class photos

One thing I love about teaching scrapbooking classes is that everyone's page turns out very differently. It might just be the colours and patterns or the page might end up flipped on its side with things added or left out all together. Anything is fine. Have a look at what some of my ladies created.
Here is my page as a starting point:

Lyndal used a gorgeous landscape photo and a rainbow of colours:

Kerryn put a Japanese touch on it:

Sandy went for the Indian look and colours:

And Ann did a wedding version:

All 4 are stunning. Well done, girls!

A point in time

Hurray for using up leftovers! I used a lot of October Afternoon paper, which I love and I can never throw my scraps in the bin. Even the photos were leftover ones from this year. They don't really needed a page to themselves. The journalling says it all: Life as it is... a point in time in 2010.

There's lots of stamping and shading in the background:

and a cute little botton from Little Red Rocket

Sweetheart

My 8 year old daughter Hannah has grown from a little pink girl into a child who wears Jeans and T-shirts. Thankfully she still likes a bit of girliness here and there.

I used vintage glitter glass in 3 colours on the chipboard butterfly:

and embossing and inking on the branch.

I loved Shell's border punch so much I ended up buying one for myself.

I was really happy with this layout and changed a few things around so we can use it in class as well. Here is the class version:

We'll make this gorgeous flower too:

Have a great week, everyone!

Fluffy Shoes

Here is a layout I made at our recent Roctreat weekend away. It's for Shell's Little red Rocket sketch challenge.

There are some cute little buttons from her shop:

and a gorgeous flower by Kim and milk top from Shell:

And I love this quirky chipboard:

Thanks for the fun challenge, Shell!

Beauty

Here is another romantic layout with some paper doileys, vellum and frilly bits. Hooray for girls!

I like this paper flower with some added glitz and shimmer. I used some vintage glitter glass for the stemen.

The title sits on a banner:

and a couple of flourishes on vellum:

Thanks for looking!

Love

I love this photo of my daughter Hannah. Her hair is always a little wild and she's got such an expressive face.

I made this gorgeous flower from satin and keep your eyes peeled because this will be coming up in a class soon.

Gilly gave me a mini pot of the most beautiful vintage glitter glass. I used it to glitz up a plain cardstock title. There is a little tutorial on Gilly and Nay 's blog on how to use it.

Yes, I love feathers, so here we have some again:

Another home-made overlay:

Fun

A fun day at South Bank when my Joel was only 4. (He's 11 as of last week!)

There is an envelope for more photos, journalling or bits and pieces:

We'll make a cute little bottle cap embelly. Even non-beer drinkers gotta love this!

Cheeky robots:

Some embossing:

...Fun!...Hope you can join me!

Does this smell like ducky?

That is what Hannah asked when she was 3. After all, the softener refill does have a duck on it and it smells really nice.
This is actually the same layout as the "Ekka" one, with a few small changes. See how different the look can be.

A little duck made from felt. I stamped it on 2 different shades of yellow, cut out the tummy, glued it onto the dark yellow duck and stitched along the lines. A feather in the tail and done!

One of my op-shop finds was this cool orange doiley:

I love that cute Sassafrass paper!

me and my girls

Yes, once in a while I am on a photo too. These things happen occasionally...
This is just a bit of fun, there is some masking on the background and a cute little felt heart I made.

I love felt, it's so cozy and touchable and not at all hard to work with.

The spray of flowers was originally white and I made them pink with a reinker bottle. Yes, it was a bit messy, but fun!

unique

Here's a little fairy page I've made using the palette #23 from the Colour Room: aqua, white, green and orange. The palette was one of my favourite colour combos, so I absolutely had to join in. Here is my take:

The photo is of Hannah eating her first gingerbread man. I added some wings:

and a little lollipop fruit salad from clouds and more

So cute!
A bunch of flowers and a large fabric flower, which Gilly showed me how to make.

I used an "invisibiltiy" paper by Heidi Swapp for the background. It is white with an embossed design, which resists paint and stays white when you paint over it. It's really fun to use.

Thanks for looking! Have a wonderful weekend.

Ekka

As you can see, I am still working my way through some of my Ekka photos from this year. This one is of my girls and our friends' daughter in the middle. It's a rare photo because they didn't sit still much that day. The journalling doubles as a frame.

a bit of paisley:

a cute little felt tree with some stitching:

one of Leanne's lollipops from Clouds and more:

and some paper curls:

Hope you can make it next week! Please remember there is no Friday classes until October 8.
