More Graphic 45 for My 2 Angels

I had some papers left from Graphic 45's "Once upon a springtime" collection. I was thinking it'd be fun to use it in a masculine sort of way and I had just the right photos of my grandfather.
Take a look at My 2 Angels for all the materials used.

I added a bit of yellow baker's twine to break up the felt ribbon, and a cute painted scrapware bird cage 

and some of Tracy's awesome word pins:

With my leftovers I made 2 tags for friends with birthdays. I thought they make a nice change from the normal birthday card.

The Graphic 45 Woodland Fantasy paper is so cute, you really don't have to do much to it.

It's so easy, it's almost like cheating!

In class next week we'll use one of my new toys - a beautiful branch and bird cage mask:

I wanted a very soft, dream-like look and it's unfortunatley a little hard to capture on camera. It's very subtle and really only shiny in certain lights. It's a home-made glimmer mist using water, a few drops of green reinker and a pinch of Pearl Ex in a mini spray bottle.

Yes, these roses are made from curtain left-overs. LOL

I bust my Cuttlebug trying to find the perfect sandwhich to emboss a Tattered Angels glimmer mask! After a short and intense moment of freaking out I managed to put the Bug back together and figure out the perfect sandwich. Phew. 

So here's the result in vellum:

Aaah. Quite nice but it wouldn't have been worth the loss of my Cuttlebug, so next time I won't force it.

Unless you've been living under a rock you know that yesterday was Valentine's Day and it's put me in the mood for a loved-themed page.

Look how far back I had to dig for a photo of us both that I haven't scrapped yet! 1998!!! Hence the title... Yup, we were both young and our hair was longer (not that much longer in Greg's case, but I had lovely Alicia chop mine real short today!)

The background is stamped and how do you like the little funky flowers with heart leaves:

I like the way the embossed vellum turned out, BTW.

Well, once a year I allow a bit of kitsch in the shape of a button heart with oh-so-Bavarian pom-pom trim:

Time to fly

This time the fortnightly challenge on the Boxx is a colour combination: lime green, red and chocolate brown.

Again I started digging through the baby photos and came across this little gem of baby Joel in 2000. At first I picked the photo because it seemed to match the colour combo, but then all these memories came back that I have never scrapped. Around this time we were getting ready to leave my home town of Dresden, Germany, and head off to Indonesia to stay with my father-in-law. We didn't know then that this would just be a stepping stone and we'd eventually end up in Australia.

The photo has a felt frame cut on the Cuttlebug, there is a strip of  dark brown fabric scrunched up and I had a little play with the stitches on my sewing machine. Every circle has a different type.

So, the whole page ended up a little messy with heaps of odds and ends everywhere because that's exactly what our place looked like at the time. What to take, what to leave? It's exciting to pack up and fly off to the other side of the world.

I found some German stamps that matched the colour scheme perfectly, a boat sticker (most of our stuff went by boat), an airplane (cause we flew, a no-brainer)

Well, and just for fun (and because I can), an ice-cream cone by Clouds and more:

sweet darling

I've been digging through my older photos and found these cute ones of Hannah when she was 6 weeks old.

 

I wanted to use some softer colours and ended up with the "pretty please" papers from My Mind's Eye. All I used were 2 sheets of double-sided paper and a cardstock. The circle is made up of little rounded off squares.

I used my new Shimmerz paints for the tree branch (they shimmer much nicer in real life):

and a little stack of paper circles with a fancy button:

So fairy sweet

I saw this new Graphic45 fairy paper at my2angels. Usually this style is not my thing but I knew it was perfect for my girls. They still firmly believe in fairies and who knows how long that's going to last?
